whats the difference between this episode and episode 1?
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many differences. Tara is played by a different actress, and not all the scenes are in there. Also, when Sookie is saving Bill (in the video) you see a woman in the bushes, who has some sort of powers. This does not show in the official pilot of the show. I have been asked to upload this video - which surprised me since I didn't even know about it! But since I was asked I said, "Why not? The person obviously really wants it," and so, I did.

ReplyDeleteThis episode was pretty good, I liked the way they used more lines from the book but I think it lacked feeling in some of the scenes. I agree on the Tara thing. I like the one we have better. This one seemed to soft.
I really only watched it to see this Tara and to get a peek at Claudine. But all in all best show ever and great episode! Thanks so much and sorry for rambling.
P.s Could you please keep using google video because its the best out there and there is never any lagging or waiting for it to load like some other video players.

ReplyDeleteMaybe the woman in the bushes is supposed to be the queen checking in on Sookie and Bill. They probably edited it out because they plan to address that whole issue later on in the series.
You can see why they changed to Rutina Wesley.

I'm pretty sure that the woman in the woods was supposed to be Claudine, but I'm glad they decided to edit that out. It was kinda funny, with paillettes and all, and way too early for the audience to know about her.
Anyone know the song when Sookie first sees Bill in the bar? It's driving me crazy and it's so low I can't make out the lyrics to search for it.

SUCH a good decision to change the actress that played Tara... this woman has NO acting skills at all and Tara is such a big character she just did do cut it!!!
ReplyDeleteDamn you I just lost 50 bucks in a bet with my brother.Apparently he saw this version when it was first out and a couple of weeks ago we had a bt over the existence of the original Tara actress.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy they changed actresses; this actress rushes her lines too much and to me if they would have kept her I don't think I would have been as interested in the show as I am now.

ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. It's always cool to see earlier cuts of a pilot and see how the creator's thinking evolved. Clearly the woman in the woods was acting as Sookie's protector since it looked like she made the chain wrap around Rattray's neck (I always looked odd to me how it did that and why Mack couldn't take it off). So she almost certainly was supposed to be Claudine. I wonder if Alan was thinking that she would be a recurring mysterious protector who would stay in the shadows until he was ready to bring the fairies into the story. I'm glad he didn't do that - she had a protector in Bill and another one would have been redundant. I actually think pretty much every change was a good one although there were a few scenes where I think the music in the unaired pilot was better. Don't really care about Tara. Clearly Kerr would have played the part differently, but I think the whole Tara character is way overplayed in the show anyway and I'm not crazy about either actress. You put either one of them in a scene with most of the other cast (especially Nelsan Ellis) and Tara winds up as interesting as a piece of furniture. Again, thanks for posting this!

ReplyDeleteTY for this episode I have been trying to locate this one for a while. I am glad that they decided to change the actress who plays Tara not that the this female is a bad actress but Rutina Wesley seems to encompass the anger of the character much better.
